Gerald R. Lindstrom

Gerald “Jerry” R. Lindstrom, 76, of Rockford, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017. He was born August 10, 1941, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of Gust and Margaret (Cleveland) Lindstrom. Jerry served his country in the United States Air Force. Married the love of his life Carol Haberer in 1966. He proudly served as a Rockford Police Officer from 1966 until 1989. Jerry was a firearms instructor and a member of the IPA and NRA and was a certified referee. He loved fishing, hunting and the outdoors. Jerry was fiercely loyal and trustworthy, a man of true integrity. Most of all Jerry was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend.
Survived by his wife, Carol; children, Todd (Carol) Cline, Kara (Mark) Nuzzo, Katie (Jason) VanHise; just like children, Kevin & Jocelyn Korasick; grandchildren, Kayla and Tim Cline, Emma Smith, Maddie, Liam and Jasper Nuzzo, Olivia and Andrew VanHise; 5 great grandchildren, sisters in law, Julie Lindstrom and Susan Lindstrom and Jerry’s caregiver “Angels”. Predeceased by his parents, brothers; Robert, Ronald and Larry Lindstrom and his beloved Igor.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel, 3910 N Rockton Ave, Rockford, IL 61103. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at Fitzgerald Funeral Home, Riverside Chapel.
